Sinkers Lounge, the indoor mini-golf and cocktail bar that opened in downtown Manhattan in November 2023, has closed, according to a June 5 Facebook post from the venue’s former general manager. The sudden shutdown has left some customers and event organizers scrambling for refunds and answers, since online reservations remained live even as the putters reportedly went back on the rack. The Manhattan Town Center spot had been a regular late-night option for students and local residents.
Closure Announced By Former GM
Anna Amsden Stevens, who ran the Manhattan location, posted on June 5 that the business was shutting down and urged customers to stop making online bookings. As reported by The Mercury, Stevens wrote, "Please do not do online bookings as the site has not been closed down," and asked patrons who needed refunds to get in touch.
Part Of A Regional Entertainment Group
Sinkers is part of Swell Spark, a Kansas City-based entertainment company that also operates Blade & Timber axe-throwing venues and Breakout KC escape rooms, according to the company website. The Manhattan location came in as part of a broader expansion that included Kansas City and Lawrence, with local coverage noting a grand opening set for Nov. 10, 2023.
Legal And Financial Headwinds
Those sister venues have been pulled into a dispute with the Power & Light District landlord. The landlord sued in early 2025, alleging unpaid rent and fees and seeking substantial damages. The Kansas City Star reports that the landlord’s suit named Sinkers and Blade & Timber and that trials are scheduled for August and September 2026. Swell Spark has pushed back in court, calling some of the landlord’s charges "unauthorized" in filings cited by reporting.
Website Still Showing Reservations
Despite Stevens’ Facebook notice, Sinkers’ official site was still listing a Manhattan booking page at the time of our check, which appears to be adding to customer confusion. The page shows operating hours and a Manhattan Town Center address for reservations, even as staff and some customers report that the space is closed.
What Comes Next
Stevens’ message advised customers to seek refunds if they had already booked, and local reporting notes that Swell Spark and CEO Matt Baysinger did not respond to requests for comment. For patrons with upcoming reservations, it may be worth double-checking confirmation emails and payment methods, since overlapping litigation and mixed signals from the website leave any reopening timeline unclear.
