The east side of Tampa just scored a new player in the hotel game. The Drury Plaza Hotel Tampa Brandon is now open along the Brandon corridor, bringing a full-service, 210-room property to a stretch better known for big-box shoppers and die-hard sports fans. With flexible meeting space, a lobby Kitchen + Bar and Drury’s signature evening 5:30 Kickback, the hotel is positioning itself as a convenient mid-size venue option near I-75 and Brandon Town Center.
According to a June 3 press release from Drury Hotels, the Drury Plaza Hotel Tampa Brandon is the company’s first property in the Tampa Bay market and its seventh in Florida. The release notes that the 210-room hotel sits at 802 South Falkenburg Road, just east of downtown Tampa, and highlights free hot breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi and the nightly 5:30 Kickback as core brand perks.
Industry listings put the new hotel’s event footprint at roughly 2,497 square feet, with two main bays that can be configured for up to 300 attendees, per Travel Weekly. That size puts it squarely in the sweet spot for regional trainings, community gatherings and smaller conferences that want professional space without a full convention center check.
The chain's own location page spotlights guest-facing extras such as an outdoor pool and spa, 24-hour business and fitness centers, a guest market and 24-hour coffee service, along with the Kitchen + Bar lobby restaurant and complimentary hot breakfast, according to Drury Hotels. The property also promotes free Wi-Fi and the brand’s evening 5:30 Kickback for guests, with reservations available through major travel channels.
Local industry reporting says the hotel will employ about 65 full- and part-time team members and will be led by General Manager Ian Gallaher, as reported by Hotel Management. The outlet adds that the location puts guests a short drive from Busch Gardens, Raymond James Stadium and the Tampa Convention Center, giving the property appeal for both leisure travelers and group business.
Meetings And Events
With roughly 2,497 square feet of divisible event space, the Brandon Drury Plaza is targeting small-to-mid-size gatherings that do not need a downtown convention setup but still want something more polished than a basic banquet room. Travel Weekly highlights the two main bays and the maximum 300-person configuration as selling points for planners chasing value and convenience. For many groups, the combination of on-site dining and straightforward parking could be what tips the scales.
Where This Fits In Drury’s Growth
The Brandon debut is part of a recent Florida push by Drury, which opened a property in Miramar Beach in May 2026 and added a Tallahassee hotel in 2024, according to industry coverage. That run of openings has brought the company’s Florida count to seven hotels, as reported by Hotel Management. The Brandon spot gives Drury a foothold on Tampa’s east side at a busy retail and entertainment hub that regularly pulls visitors from across the region.
Local media have already taken note. The Osprey Observer covered the June 26 opening and pointed to the hotel’s meeting space and neighborhood location as key features. Osprey Observer reported that Brandon guests can expect the brand’s standard amenity package and group-friendly options.
Rooms and group blocks are listed on major travel booking sites and the hotel’s own channels, with travel listings showing the property accepting reservations for current dates and later in the year. For immediate availability and rates, travelers can check platforms such as Booking.com or the hotel's reservation page.
