
One person was killed yesterday afternoon when a dump truck and an SUV collided on Winchester Pike on Columbus' southeast side. The crash happened about 2:40 p.m. at 2731 Winchester Pike, and emergency crews quickly converged on the scene.
Police were called to the crash around 2:40 p.m., and a victim was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m., according to ABC6. The Columbus Police Department told the station there were no transports to area hospitals and that investigators remained on scene.

Winchester Pike has long appeared on city lists of high-crash corridors, with local studies and mapping flagging a cluster of serious collisions along the roadway. The City of Columbus crash-history appendix lists Winchester Pike among corridors targeted for safety improvements and state funding.
