O'Mara Irish Pub is set to plug into Murray Hill's nightlife this month, taking over 939 Edgewood Ave S with beer, pub food, and a busy calendar of live music. The veteran- and woman-owned spot is expected to seat about 100 guests and will feature a small stage aimed at nightly acts and open-mic jam nights. Co-owner Amy Tomb describes the space as an "old-world Irish pub" with green decor, warm lighting, and a copper epoxy bar that gives it, in her words, "a dive-bar feel, a few points higher."
Co-owner Amy Tomb told What Now that the opening menu will stick to core pub staples such as pizza, wings, boiled peanuts, popcorn, and charcuterie boards. The plan is to layer in Irish favorites over time, including Reubens, corned beef dinners, and a monthly steak bake. Tomb said the team hopes to "get the doors open as soon as possible" and is aiming for an opening by the end of the month.
Owners and paperwork
State corporate filings list O'MARA IRISH PUB LLC as the company behind the bar, filed in early January and naming Amy Beth Tomb and Lisa M. Morrison as authorized members. The same filings identify Tomb as the registered agent, according to BISProfiles.
Where it fits in Murray Hill
The pub is joining a busy stretch of Edgewood Avenue that already leans hard into nightlife, from the long-running Murray Hill Theatre to newer gastropubs and taprooms. That cluster has helped turn Murray Hill into a regular stop for local bands and evening crowds, according to Visit Jacksonville.
O'Mara plans seating for about 100 and a stage for live performances, with a focus on local talent via open-mic nights and jam sessions. Final staffing, licensing, and build-out work are still in progress, and the owners plan to share a firm soft-open date once those pieces are locked in, per What Now.
If that timetable holds, Murray Hill will pick up another live-music room and a mid-priced Irish-pub option in late June. We will keep an eye on filings and the owners' channels for a confirmed opening date and the first slate of shows.
