An ongoing feud between two families in northeast Houston boiled over before dawn Friday, ending in a burst of gunfire at an apartment complex and leaving a man in his 30s shot multiple times, according to officials. Houston Fire Department medics rushed him to a hospital, where he was last reported to be in stable condition.
Houston Police Department officers were called out around 1:50 a.m. to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 7300 block of North Wayside Drive, Click2Houston reported. Officers arrived to find the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his arm, and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital while detectives began sorting out who actually pulled the trigger.
Investigators said the gunfire "stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two families" and that members of both households allegedly "exchanged gunfire" during the confrontation, per Click2Houston. Police added that an earlier 911 call had flagged threats between the two groups, and officers later served search warrants at both apartments, seizing one firearm and detaining three people, a woman and two juveniles, for questioning. As of now, no charges have been announced and the case is still under active investigation.

The North Wayside corridor has seen deadly violence before. In 2024, police investigated a fatal shooting in a North Wayside park, a case that helped fuel neighborhood concerns about safety and calls for stepped-up patrols in the area.

HPD's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division is handling the investigation, and officials say no one has been charged at this time.
