Yesterday, gunfire cut through the quiet along the 4300 block of Carter Park Drive in south Fort Worth, where a man was found fatally wounded after witnesses heard shots and rushed to check outside, authorities said. Emergency crews tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives are now leading the case as police work to figure out who pulled the trigger.
Officers were called to the area around 11 p.m. on a report of a shooting and found an unidentified man with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Fort Worth Police Department news release reported by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. The department said the shooter or shooters had already taken off before officers got there, and investigators have not released any suspect information.
Area Has Seen Recent Shootings
The same stretch of Carter Park Drive has seen gunfire before. In March, two men were shot near the park as part of a string of shootings across the city, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. That recent history adds another layer for detectives, who now have to determine whether this latest killing is a one-off or part of a broader pattern.

Police said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, and the victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified.
