Fat Tuesday, the New Orleans–style frozen daiquiri chain, has officially landed in Fells Point, throwing a grand opening party on Tuesday at its new spot at 718 S. Broadway. The debut came with loud music, heavy summer vibes, and a line of people hoping to snag free shots, which were promised to the first 100 guests. The opening adds yet another late-night choice to Fells Point’s already busy waterfront strip.

As reported by WMAR-2 News, the chain plugged the opening on Instagram by telling followers to “expect frozen drinks, great music, summer vibes and the party Baltimore has been waiting for.” WMAR also highlighted the opening day deal that gave free shots to the first 100 people in line.

What’s inside the new location

According to The Baltimore Banner, the Fells Point Fat Tuesday fills roughly 4,000 square feet in the former Greene Turtle and Barley’s Backyard space. The interior is being outfitted with booths, benches, and a custom wooden bar. Permit records cited by the Banner show seating for about 75 people, plus a kitchen setup that includes a fryer and a pizza oven to support a menu of starters, pizzas, and bucket-sized drink options.

Licensing and menu details

On the regulatory side, the city’s liquor board cleared the spot with a Class B beer, wine, and liquor restaurant license, according to Baltimore Fishbowl. Fishbowl also notes that a sample application menu listed a $19 “Charm City Sunrise” cocktail alongside the chain’s hallmark frozen daiquiris.

Fat Tuesday started as a single Bourbon Street shop in New Orleans in 1984 and has since grown to about 90 locations across the country, according to the company’s website. Its arrival in Fells Point brings the brand’s souvenir cups and boozy slushies to the neighborhood right as summer crowds ramp up.

The Baltimore Banner previously noted that owner Robert George did not respond to requests for comment ahead of the opening, so some day-to-day details are still under wraps. For now, the Broadway location is up and running, serving the chain’s familiar frozen drinks and a party style atmosphere to anyone wandering through Fells Point.
