A routine turn out of an Arlington gas station ended in tragedy last Friday when a Kia Forte was struck on East Division Street, killing the driver at the scene, police said.
Arlington police said officers were dispatched around 4:08 p.m. after reports that the Kia was attempting to pull from the station into the eastbound lanes. A 2022 Ram F550 traveling westbound hit the side of the smaller car. The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead on the roadway. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will publicly identify the man once his family has been notified, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Arlington's Traffic Picture
The deadly collision lands in the middle of an already busy crash landscape for Arlington. The city has logged more than 6,000 traffic incidents in recent reports and has responded by boosting traffic enforcement and rolling out safety projects. That tally and the city’s ongoing Safe Roads work are detailed in City of Arlington budget documents.
