Gunfire Rips Through Green Road Apartments, Injures 23-Year-Old Woman

Gunfire shattered the early-morning quiet on Ann Arbor's north side yesterday, leaving a 23-year-old woman wounded and multiple nearby buildings hit in what police say was a targeted shooting in the 1700 block of Green Road.

Ann Arbor police say officers were called to the scene at roughly 1:20 a.m., where they found the Redford woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her left elbow. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators also discovered that several nearby structures had been struck by bullets. One person was taken into custody while other occupants fled the area as officers moved in and searched the neighborhood.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the Ann Arbor Police Department said patrol officers located the injured woman at the scene and confirmed she had been shot once in the left elbow. According to that post, beat officers then spotted and pursued a suspect vehicle until it reached a dead-end road. Officers recovered evidence indicating that adjacent structures had been struck by gunfire. Investigators have described the shooting as targeted and not random, and reported no other injuries.
