Two people were hurt early yesterday when gunfire erupted in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, rattling a stretch of Elm Street that residents already know far too well. The shooting unfolded in the 1900 block of Elm Street, just off Findlay Market, and left both victims with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the pair did not wait for an ambulance and instead drove themselves to a local hospital for treatment.
According to WLWT, officers responded overnight to the 1900 block of Elm Street and later learned that both victims had self-transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. Cincinnati police told the station there is currently no suspect information to release. Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and combing through surveillance footage as they try to figure out who pulled the trigger and why. No names or further details about the victims have been released.
Elm Street Has Been A Flashpoint
The latest gunfire only adds to the tension on Elm Street. The block has been the scene of multiple late-night shootings in recent months, and a November 2025 overnight attack on the same stretch left four people injured, WCPO reported. That earlier incident sparked promises of stepped-up patrols in the area.
Those repeat crime scenes have many neighbors and business owners on edge, with renewed calls for more visible policing and better street lighting along the corridor. Yesterday's shooting, layered on top of that history, is likely to deepen frustrations as investigators work to map out exactly what unfolded.
Police Seek Tips
Cincinnati police are urging anyone who saw or heard something to come forward as the investigation continues. WLWT reports that officers are gathering witness statements and reviewing nearby surveillance video in an effort to identify a suspect.
