Gunshots shattered the quiet at a DeKalb County apartment complex on Wood Terrace Circle Sunday, sending police racing into the neighborhood and leaving one woman wounded. Neighbors said they heard the gunfire and later watched from their windows as the scene filled with cruisers, crime-scene tape and flashing lights.
Residents shared video that appears to show officers escorting a person away while medics carried the injured woman from a unit and loaded her into an ambulance. Investigators blocked off portions of the complex as they started knocking on doors and interviewing potential witnesses.
As reported by WSB‑TV, Channel 2 Action News photographers obtained the neighbor video that shows police taking someone into custody and the victim being removed for medical treatment. According to the station, officers confirmed that a person was in custody but would not say whether that individual was the suspected shooter. WSB‑TV added that investigators stayed on scene Sunday as they canvassed for witnesses and evidence.
Neighborhood context
The shooting lands in the middle of a string of violent incidents across DeKalb County this month, a pattern that has residents uneasy and officials publicly pressing for answers. The Atlanta Journal‑Constitution reported last week that a pregnant woman was killed at a Decatur apartment complex in a separate case that sparked renewed calls for witnesses and fresh reviews of security measures.
Local leaders and law enforcement officials have repeatedly urged anyone with video, firsthand knowledge or other information to step forward and assist investigators, arguing that community cooperation is critical to solving these cases.
How to help investigators
According to DeKalb County, witnesses can send anonymous tips and video by texting the keyword “DKPD” to 847411, using the department’s Tip411 mobile app, or submitting an online tip. The county says Tip411 removes identifying information and still lets investigators follow up with questions while keeping the tipster anonymous.
Investigators said they will review any footage or leads that come in as the probe moves forward. Detectives say the investigation remains active and no charges have been announced. WSB‑TV reported that Channel 2 Action News stayed at the complex Sunday while officers collected evidence and continued speaking with neighbors.
