Early Saturday in Stockton, a juvenile driver was found shot and fatally wounded after his car slammed into a tree on Hickock Court, according to police. Officers arriving at the scene discovered the crashed vehicle and the young driver inside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 55-year-old man was later found nearby with a bullet graze wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officers had responded to Hickock Court around 12:30 a.m. on a report that someone had been shot. When they arrived, they found the vehicle against a tree and learned the driver, described by police as a juvenile male, had been shot and did not survive, CBS Sacramento reports. Police told the outlet the victim’s identity has not yet been released and that there is currently no suspect information.
Neighborhood context and past shootings
Hickock Court sits in Stockton’s Bear Creek/Stonewood neighborhood, an area that has already seen its share of gun violence in recent years. In February 2025, the same street was the site of a fatal shooting on Hickock Court involving a woman who was killed, an incident also covered by outlets such as KCRA Channel 3.
What police are investigating
In Saturday’s case, Stockton police said the 55-year-old man was grazed by a bullet at a separate location along Hickock Court before being transported for medical care, and detectives remained at the scene processing evidence. As CBS Sacramento reports, investigators have not released any suspect descriptions or possible motive, and the case is being handled as an active homicide investigation.
The Stockton Police Department has asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and says additional details will be released as the investigation develops. This story will be updated as officials provide more information.
