Jacksonville homicide detectives say they have finally made an arrest in a Brentwood Avenue killing that rattled the neighborhood last fall, taking 30-year-old Shawn Walker into custody on Tuesday in connection with a deadly shooting outside a local business.
Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified Walker as the suspect in the Nov. 1, 2025 shooting that left 38-year-old Kenance “Tiger” Bronson II mortally wounded near Golfair Boulevard. Bronson was shot outside a business on Brentwood Avenue and later died at a hospital. Detectives say the break in the case came after the homicide unit pored over surveillance video and spoke with witnesses, and Walker is now being held in Duval County while the case moves forward.
According to the Jax Sheriff’s Office, detectives "reviewed footage and interviewed witnesses" before naming Walker as the suspect. The agency says he was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Duval County jail, and it is still asking anyone with additional information to call 904-630-0500.
Surveillance Video And What It Shows
As reported by Action News Jax, local surveillance footage captured the tense moments right before the attack. The video shows a black SUV pulling up and a man stepping out of the vehicle shortly before gunfire erupted.
Family members who viewed the video told the station that seeing those final seconds was devastating and only deepened their grief. Action News Jax reported that at the time, JSO investigators were working to identify the SUV and the people seen in the footage.
Victim And Community Reaction
Bronson’s relatives identified him as 38-year-old Kenance "Tiger" Bronson II and publicly pleaded for justice after the shooting on the 4300 block of Brentwood Avenue, according to News4JAX. Family members described Bronson as a generous presence in the neighborhood who mentored kids and helped out his neighbors, and they said they had been left waiting months for answers in his killing.
At the time of the November shooting, the sheriff’s office said several people had been detained for questioning, but no arrests were immediately announced, News4JAX reported.
Investigation, Arrest And Custody
The Jax Sheriff’s Office says its homicide unit identified Walker after reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses connected to the case. Jail records show he is currently being held at the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility in downtown Jacksonville. The agency’s corrections page lists that facility’s address as Jax Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives say Walker’s arrest does not close the book on the case and that the investigation remains active.
Legal Status And Next Steps
The sheriff’s announcement did not specify any formal charges, and prosecutors in Duval County will decide what, if any, charges to file as the case progresses. Court filings and case documents are made available to the public through the Duval County Clerk’s CORE portal at the CORE site, where criminal cases are posted once charges are entered.
In the meantime, investigators are still asking anyone with information about the shooting or Walker’s alleged involvement to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
