Scott Kashman is stepping into one of Jacksonville's most closely watched health care roles, taking over as chief executive officer of Ascension St. Vincent's Health System, the Jacksonville-based network that serves Northeast Florida and parts of Southeast Georgia. His appointment is effective July 1, moving him from an interim market leadership post into the permanent systemwide chief job.
The move follows an announcement made June 18 and then picked up in local coverage. Kashman joined Ascension in 2023 as president and CEO of Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside and is credited with helping drive a financial and quality turnaround there, including a boost in the hospital's Leapfrog Health Grade, as reported by Action News Jax.
Ascension's Florida leadership roster now lists Kashman as chief executive officer of Ascension St. Vincent's Health System, formally locking in his transition from the interim market lead title he held earlier this year. The update appears on Ascension's official leadership page and reflects the revised organizational chart for the Florida market, according to Ascension.
Growth And Projects He Will Oversee
During Kashman's time at Riverside and while he served as interim market lead, St. Vincent's pushed ahead on a series of local projects, including a new freestanding emergency room on the Southside at Beach and Kernan and an orthopedic ambulatory campus in St. Augustine. The Jax Daily Record followed the ER project at 12525 Beach Blvd., connecting that expansion to Southside hospital operations and neighborhood demand, as reported by Jax Daily Record.
Partnerships And Community Care
Ascension also rolled out a joint venture with PathPoint Health to open a metabolic care center at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside, a program the system says will bring together medical care, nutrition and lifestyle coaching under one specialty practice. "Metabolic conditions like diabetes and obesity affect thousands of people across Northeast Florida, and too often, patients are managing these conditions without coordinated support," Kashman said in Ascension's announcement of the PathPoint partnership, according to Ascension.
What This Means Locally
Kashman is already wired into civic life in Jacksonville. He is listed on the Jacksonville Civic Council Foundation board and on the JAX Chamber board, according to local leadership rosters. Action News Jax notes that the system he will now lead includes four hospitals and more than 80 Ascension St. Vincent's Medical Group locations across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. His CEO role begins July 1.
