A Friday afternoon trip past Ka Makana Alii turned serious when a single-vehicle crash on Kapolei Parkway sent a 65-year-old woman to the hospital in critical condition and temporarily closed one of the mall exits. The collision, reported at about 3:15 p.m., drew a rapid response from Honolulu Emergency Medical Services and police, who treated multiple people at the scene. A man in his 70s was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while a man in his 20s was evaluated but declined transport.
Where and when the crash happened
According to KITV, the single-vehicle crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Kapolei Parkway at the Ka Makana Alii exit near the California Pizza Kitchen entrance. Police shut down that exit while crews worked the scene and have not said whether speed, alcohol or drugs played any role in the wreck.
EMS response and who was hurt
Honolulu Emergency Medical Service reported that paramedics provided advanced life support to the 65-year-old woman before rushing her to the emergency room, and they also treated and transported a man in his 70s in stable condition, according to Hawaii News Now. A man in his 20s was checked out at the scene but chose not to go to the hospital.
Investigation and traffic impacts
Police say the crash remains under investigation and have not released any additional details about what led up to the impact, KITV reported. The temporary closure around the California Pizza Kitchen entrance slowed drivers and shoppers trying to get in and out of the area while emergency crews worked, and authorities did not immediately say when the exit would reopen.
