A small kitchen fire at Bourbon Steak, the Michael Mina steakhouse inside the Walt Disney World Dolphin, briefly turned a normal Thursday night into an unexpected evacuation drill for hotel guests.
According to resort staff, smoke from the restaurant prompted the temporary clearing of the lobby and several guest-room floors, but the incident was quickly brought under control. Guests were allowed back inside not long after, and the fire was contained to the restaurant kitchen. No injuries were reported.
In a statement to WKMG ClickOrlando, resort public-relations staff emphasized that the blaze stayed inside the Bourbon Steak kitchen and that the hotel itself did not sustain damage. "Pictures make it seem the fire was much larger than it was, as the ventilation system is meant to push smoke outside," the statement said, adding there was "no damage to hotel and only in the restaurant." The steakhouse will remain closed until further notice, according to the station.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that social-media images showed smoke above the resort entrance, prompting staff to evacuate parts of the hotel out of an abundance of caution. The outlet noted that operations resumed after crews cleared the scene and again confirmed that no injuries were reported.
