La Mesa Boulevard just picked up a serious coastal accent. Limoncello, a Southern Italian restaurant inspired by the Amalfi Coast, is now open in La Mesa Village at 8273 La Mesa Blvd., serving housemade pastas and seafood-focused mains. The restaurant is currently offering dinner on select nights, with later service on Saturday evenings.
Handmade pasta and coastal flavors
The menu leans into southern Italian comfort with dishes like brasato, an 18‑hour braised boneless short rib, agnello arrosos, a grilled rack of lamb with romesco and salsa verde, and a cioppino Livornese loaded with clams, mussels, calamari and prawns. Chefs are rolling out ravioli and housemade fettuccine, and the colorful pastas get their own glass‑enclosed pasta room, according to Times of San Diego.
Build‑your‑own pasta night
Tuesdays come with a carb-friendly twist. Limoncello runs a $15.95 "Make Your Own Pasta" special, where diners choose from nine pasta shapes, ten housemade sauces and six proteins for one flat price. Those details are laid out on Limoncello's website.
Who’s behind Limoncello
The concept comes from local restaurateur Alberto Morreale, whose other projects include The Seventh House and Farmers Bottega. He has described Limoncello as his first Italian restaurant and shaped the design around an Amalfi Coast aesthetic, according to San Diego Magazine.
What it adds to La Mesa
Limoncello’s debut adds another option to the steadily evolving La Mesa Village dining scene, joining a wave of recent arrivals and fresh concepts along the boulevard. Hoodline coverage of nearby openings suggests neighborhood diners can expect even more choices as the summer rolls on.
