According to the Town of Lady Lake Police Department, Leverette and another person were walking out of a residence at 104 Caroline Ave. at about 12:44 a.m. on June 30, 2023, when a group of suspects armed with multiple firearms ambushed them. Leverette was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim survived. The attackers fled in unknown vehicles, and no arrests have been announced. Detectives say they are still tracking down leads and insist the case is far from closed.
