A domestic disturbance call on the east side of Las Vegas spiraled into a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon, leaving a man fatally wounded in a car just a few blocks from where officers were first dispatched, according to police.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers were called about 3:40 p.m. to the 6000 block of Lake Mead Boulevard near Mount Hood Street. Not long after they arrived in the area, a man was found inside a vehicle a couple of blocks away suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
What police say
As reported by KSNV, investigators say the victim had gone to his ex-girlfriend’s home before he was shot by someone inside the residence. Officers secured the house, detained people at the scene and called in homicide detectives, Lt. Price told KSNV.
Metro described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there was no ongoing threat to the wider public.

Patrol officers rendered aid to the wounded man until medical crews arrived, then the department’s Homicide Section took over the case. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department notes on its Homicide page that the unit investigates deaths caused by criminal means, coordinates with the coroner’s office on victim identification and cause-of-death determinations, and provides public contact information for ongoing homicide investigations.
Detectives remained in the area processing the scene and canvassing for potential witnesses as they worked to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the gunfire.
