Bubble waffle loyalists, rejoice: Battr is leveling up in Lakewood.
The Tremont dessert shop known for its bubble waffles, crepes and gelato is opening a much larger flagship on Detroit Avenue. The new Lakewood outpost is slated for a soft opening later this month, with a grand opening set for July 3, and will feature ground-floor seating, a bigger kitchen and plenty of those Instagram-ready creations that helped the original spot blow up in the first place.
Owner Issa Elkhatib told Cleveland Scene that "The Lakewood location is our first branded location, it's an entirely different design. Tremont was basically our proof of concept." Crews have been working on the storefront at 15000 Detroit Ave. since November, and the Scene reporter notes the new shop sits only a few steps from Rozi’s Wine House.
More Room To Work
Clocking in at about 1,750 square feet, the Lakewood shop is nearly three times the size of the Tremont original, giving Battr room for a full kitchen and ground-floor seating instead of the upstairs setup on Professor Avenue. As Cleveland Magazine reports, that added space is expected to help grow the catering side of the business and eventually support in-house gelato production.
What To Expect On The Menu
Battr’s menu centers on Hong Kong-style bubble waffles, handheld French crepes and house-made Italian gelato, along with bubble tea and espresso drinks, according to Battr. The preview also teases gelato shakes, flavored ice lattes and made-to-order combinations tailored to look as good on camera as they taste.
When To Go
The Lakewood shop is planning a soft opening in late June, followed by a grand opening celebration on July 3, according to Cleveland Scene. The Detroit Avenue location is being framed as Battr’s first fully branded store and will differ in both design and capacity from the original Tremont spot.
Neighborhood Fit
Battr is moving into a busy stretch of Detroit Avenue inside Lakewood Place, a compact shopping center whose tenant lineup already includes Potbelly, Dave’s Hot Chicken and Beyond Juicery. Goodman Real Estate’s listing for Lakewood Place identifies the property at 15000–15016 Detroit Ave. and notes Battr as a new tenant, a small but notable vote of confidence in the corridor’s dessert game.
