Gunfire broke the late-night quiet in Cincinnati's Corryville neighborhood Friday, leaving one person hurt and triggering a fresh police investigation just off the University of Cincinnati campus.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Carplin Place at the corner of Harvey Avenue, where they began combing the area for evidence, according to FOX19. The victim was taken to a hospital by private vehicle and was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Police on scene, victim status
FOX19 reported that Cincinnati Police remained on scene in the 500 block of Carplin Place as they gathered evidence late Friday. Investigators said the wounded person was transported by a private car rather than an ambulance and that the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
As of that report, officers had not released any suspect information while the investigation continued.
Neighborhood context
The shooting lands in a neighborhood already on edge. Corryville's Short Vine nightlife strip has seen recent flare-ups, including a late-May attack that drew fresh scrutiny to the busy corridor, as reported in Short Vine Pizza Beatdown. Other incidents near the University of Cincinnati have also made headlines, including several shots fired in a Kroger parking lot last November, per WCPO.
No arrests have been announced in Friday's shooting, and police have not released a suspect description as the investigation moves forward. FOX19 had crews at the scene and said it will update coverage as officials release more details.
