A late-night crash at the Loop 410 and Interstate 10 interchange on San Antonio’s Northwest Side turned deadly when a woman riding a motorcycle was thrown from her bike and crushed against a flyover wall, authorities said. Emergency crews found her pinned between a vehicle and the concrete barrier, pulled her out and rushed her to University Hospital, where she later died.
According to News4SanAntonio, the crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and became trapped between a car and the flyover wall while crews worked frantically to free her. Investigators have released no further details, and the crash remains under investigation.
Crash Adds To Recent Pattern On Loop 410
The wreck is the latest serious crash along Loop 410 in recent weeks. A wrong-way collision on the loop's southwest side on June 28 killed two people, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
City Plans Target High-Injury Corridors
San Antonio's Vision Zero Action Plan identifies high-injury corridors and outlines engineering, enforcement and outreach steps aimed at reducing traffic deaths. The 2024 plan calls for targeted infrastructure work and community safety programs on especially dangerous stretches of road, including the city’s busy loops. San Antonio police and emergency responders remained on the scene as investigators worked to piece together what happened, and authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
