Starting this Sunday, teens hoping to roam Meadows Mall without an adult are going to hit a wall at the door.
The westside Las Vegas mall will require all guests under 18 to be accompanied by someone 21 or older beginning Sunday afternoon, with public-safety staff checking IDs at entrances. The supervision rule kicks in at 3 p.m., and mall and county leaders say the move is aimed squarely at cutting down on youth crime and so-called social-media-fueled “teen takeovers.”
As reported by KSNV, the mall announced the change Thursday and said public-safety officers will be stationed at entrances to verify IDs for anyone who appears to be under 17. Clark County officials told KSNV they will also extend hours at Walnut, Whitney, Cambridge and Torrey Pines recreation centers, keeping facilities roughly open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for late-night basketball, boxing, DJ classes, mentorship and workshops.
UMC's chief of trauma, Dr. Deborah Kuhls, told KSNV that pediatric gunshot wounds continue to take a heavy toll and that UMC treated 43 pediatric gunshot patients in 2023 and 22 in 2025.
Past ‘Takeovers’ Pushed The Policy Shift
The crackdown did not come out of nowhere. It follows previous incidents at the same shopping center that drew police and tenant responses. In March 2025, an attempted takeover at Meadows Mall was live-streamed on Instagram and led some venues inside the mall to impose age restrictions of their own.
Community Pushback And Unanswered Questions
Local advocates say that while keeping the peace at the mall matters, long-term solutions will come from programs, not just keeping teens out. They also point out that access and funding will ultimately decide whether the new policy does what officials hope.
“They want to go viral,” parent and nonprofit founder Kamilia Hardwick told KSNV, arguing that accessible, affordable activities are critical to keep teens engaged and off the social-media stunt circuit.
What Parents Need To Know This Weekend
The curfew at Meadows Mall starts this Sunday at 3 p.m., and anyone under 18 will need to be accompanied by someone 21 or older. Parents and guardians should plan to accompany younger teens and carry ID, since public-safety staff will be checking at mall entrances.
County recreation centers will begin extended evening hours the same week, offering supervised activities at Walnut, Whitney, Cambridge and Torrey Pines as an alternative to unsanctioned late-night gatherings.
