Two sisters died after a house fire ripped through a home on Temi Road in Bellingham early Monday, a late-night blaze that left the neighborhood stunned. Firefighters pulled two people from the burning house and rushed them to Milford Regional Medical Center, where Bellingham Fire Chief Bill Miller said they later died. A family cat also died in the fire.
How crews responded
Crews arrived to heavy flames in the back of the house shortly after midnight, according to WHDH. The station reports that firefighters found flames tearing through the roof and side of the home and pulled two people from inside. Local crews moved quickly at the scene, and initial reports indicated the fire was brought under control by the responding units.
Victims taken to Milford Hospital
According to CBS Boston, the call came in at about 12:40 a.m. after multiple 911 calls, and Chief Miller said firefighters knocked the blaze down in roughly 20 minutes. The two women were transported to Milford Regional Medical Center and later died, Miller told reporters. Investigators have not yet determined where or how the fire began, and CBS Boston reports that the victims' names and ages have not been released.
