A routine breakfast run at a Lomira McDonald’s turned serious early Friday when a 63-year-old Brookfield man was struck by a pickup truck in the drive thru and badly hurt. He was airlifted by helicopter to a Milwaukee hospital with injuries described as possibly life threatening.

Dodge County deputies were called around 6:30 a.m. to the McDonald’s drive thru at 630 East Avenue in Lomira, where the man had parked his car and was walking toward the restaurant when he was hit by a pickup, according to WMTV. The station reports the victim is a 63-year-old man from Brookfield and that the pickup was driven by an 18-year-old from Campbellsport who stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Response and airlift
First responders from Lomira and neighboring departments assisted at the McDonald’s, stabilizing the man before he was flown to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Froedtert’s Flight For Life program operates regionally and uses a rooftop helipad at the hospital for trauma transports, according to the hospital’s program page.
“The crash remains under investigation by DCO and its crash investigation team,” WMTV reports.
