A body found behind a dumpster on Columbus’ West Side has sparked a homicide investigation, after officers were called out Wednesday night to Sullivant Avenue and remained on scene into the morning trying to piece together what happened.
Columbus police say the body was discovered behind Great Beginning Child Care, a daycare along Sullivant Avenue. Two police cruisers were posted at the site while detectives worked the case, according to WSYX/ABC 6. The station reported that it had reached out to Columbus police for comment, but no additional details were immediately available.
Authorities had not released the victim’s name or the cause of death. Great Beginning Child Care is listed online at that Sullivant Avenue location, per MapQuest. The stretch of Sullivant has seen violent incidents in recent years, including a fatal shooting in August 2025.
