
A routine medical call on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard turned into a full-blown police scene Saturday evening, after officers found a man unresponsive in the 1900 block and pronounced him dead at the location. Detectives stayed on the roadway into the night while investigators worked to sort out what led to the man’s death.
Tampa police investigating
The Tampa Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, where they located an unresponsive man who had died. Detectives spent Saturday collecting evidence at the scene as investigators tried to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has been called in to conduct an autopsy, and police are asking anyone who might know what happened to contact the department at 813-231-6130, according to FOX 13 News.
What officials have not released
Police have not released the man’s name, the cause of death, or whether foul play is suspected, and no arrests have been announced. Authorities said additional details will be shared as the investigation allows. For now, the area remains under police control while lab personnel and detectives process evidence.
