A 67-year-old woman and her 34-year-old son were found dead inside a Frederick County home on Tuesday after a relative discovered them unresponsive, according to authorities. Deputies responded to the 6100 block of Baldridge Circle, located the bodies, and opened a death investigation. The sheriff's office said autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death, and officials told reporters there is no known ongoing danger to neighbors.
What officials said
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office told reporters that a relative found the two inside the house and called deputies, as reported by WBAL-TV. The office did not release the victims' names but confirmed their ages. Investigators said the preliminary probe suggests the deaths were the result of circumstances confined to the home and involved only the decedents.
"Detectives are not seeking any suspects and have no information suggesting any ongoing danger to the public," the sheriff's office said, as reported by WBAL-TV. Investigators also said autopsies are pending and asked anyone with information to contact Detective Heerema at 301-600-1046.
What happens next
Autopsies in Maryland are handled by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, which determines the manner and cause of death and may take days or longer to complete, depending on testing, per the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said it will provide updates as the investigation continues.
