In a brief early-morning update, FOX 2 Detroit reported that police confirmed they are working a deadly shooting in Southwest Detroit but "have not shared any details about the crime." The station posted its short video report at 6:17 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
Recent violence on the southwest side
The latest killing comes after a string of high-profile violent incidents in the area. In February, investigators found three bodies in the basement of a Southwest Detroit home and later arrested a suspect, according to WXYZ.
In a separate case in May 2024, two women were killed at a vacant home in Southwest Detroit, a shooting reported by WDIV ClickOnDetroit. Those incidents have underscored ongoing safety concerns in parts of the neighborhood.
