Nassau County police on Monday shared a fresh batch of mugshots, spotlighting six people the department says are wanted across the county. The list runs the gamut from criminal contempt and alleged weapons possession to third-degree rape and accusations that several suspects "acted in a manner to injure" children under 17.
The lineup went up on the Nassau County Police Department's Facebook page, with each person paired with a brief physical description and a last known address or hometown, from Baldwin to Westbury. The post describes those shown as "wanted felony and misdemeanor offenders who reside in or have committed crimes in Nassau County," according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Who police named
Among those listed, police say 28-year-old Joshua Williams of Baldwin is wanted on a first-degree criminal contempt charge for allegedly violating an order of protection that involved weapon threats.
Two people are accused of "acting in a manner to injure" a child under 17: 38-year-old Lugao Kasberg of Hicksville and 37-year-old Ever Rodriguez of Levittown, according to the department. Rodriguez is also wanted for criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say 32-year-old Kerron Anglin of Merrick is wanted on a third-degree assault charge with intent to cause physical injury, along with related allegations involving injury to a child.
Also on the list is 75-year-old Christos Neratzakis of Levittown, wanted on a third-degree rape charge alleging the actor was 21 or older and the alleged victim was under 17.
Rounding out the six is 40-year-old Franklin Avila of Westbury, who police say is wanted on a felony assault charge tied to an allegation of injuring a child. These details, along with the photos, appear in the department's Facebook post, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
How to tip
Nassau County Crime Stoppers operates an anonymous hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477) and also accepts web tips. Calls are confidential and may be eligible for cash rewards, according to Nassau County Crime Stoppers.
For non-emergencies, the Nassau County Police Department directs residents to contact their local precinct or use the agency's online contact page for more information; see the Nassau County Police Department for details.
Why 'Mugshot Monday' matters
The department has been rolling out similar "Mugshot Monday" posts in recent weeks to widen the audience for wanted suspects and drum up community leads. earlier Mugshot Monday coverage noted that these posts are intended to spark tips, not to serve as a determination of guilt.
Legal context
Being named in a police wanted post is an allegation, and everyone listed is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Under New York law, rape in the third degree is classified as a class E felony; see NY Penal Law §130.25, as published by Justia, for the statute text.
