The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man in his mid-30s was shot Thursday night near Windle Street and Tyler Street in the New Town neighborhood. Family members rushed him to a local hospital, where he was listed in non-life-threatening condition, authorities said. Investigators at the scene said the shooting followed a physical fight on the street.
As reported by News4JAX, witnesses told detectives that someone in a white Dodge Charger pulled out a rifle and fired several shots, hitting the victim once in the abdomen. Investigators said the case appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the broader community.
