Construction crews are deep into a full makeover of a corner storefront in downtown Plymouth, turning it into Fourgrounds, a coffee shop and community studio backed by WDIV Local 4. Neighbors recently got an early look at the space while the buildout rolls on ahead of an eventual public opening.
According to ClickOnDetroit, workers have been adding finishing touches inside, and the sneak peek drew curious locals who wanted to see what is moving into the high-visibility corner. The preview highlighted the progress so far and laid out plans for the shop to double as a hangout for coffee, conversation, and community-focused reporting.
A newsroom with a coffee bar
WDIV first rolled out the Fourgrounds concept in 2025, pitching it as a hybrid cafe and satellite studio that would blend broadcasting with a neighborhood coffee spot. As detailed by TVNewsCheck, the station plans to host in-store broadcasts, "Coffee with the Newsroom" sessions, live segments of Live in the D, and regular Q&As where reporters and anchors field questions face-to-face. The coffee itself will come from partner Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, keeping the beans local as well.
Where it's going
The cafe is taking over the former Focal Point storefront at the corner of W. Ann Arbor Trail and Harvey Street. The address, 995 W. Ann Arbor Trail, is listed as a downtown retail location and appears on Downtown Plymouth's walking map. Commercial listings, including LoopNet, also identify the space as a prime spot in the downtown core.
What locals can expect
Fourgrounds plans to pour locally roasted drinks and serve menu items inspired by Plymouth landmarks, while also using the shop as an event space for public conversations and community gatherings. The team is already hiring: the Fourgrounds careers page lists openings for a general manager and front-of-house staff as they gear up for opening day.
No official opening date has been released yet, but the active construction and recent preview signal that Fourgrounds could welcome customers later this year. For ongoing updates and more behind-the-scenes coverage, keep an eye on ClickOnDetroit.
