A North Hollywood man was rushed to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a house fire tore through a home on W. Friar Street, leaving him in serious condition, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames pouring from a single-story residence and discovered one male occupant inside.

Paramedics treated the man on scene before transporting him to a hospital, where his condition was described as grave in an incident bulletin from the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities also reported that a firearm was involved and quickly locked down the area, treating the property as more than just a standard fire call.

The blaze was reported just after 12:27 p.m. at 18324 W. Friar St. and logged as Incident #0801, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
