The northwest Las Vegas sky is getting a star-spangled upgrade this Fourth of July, with a free fireworks and drone show set to light up Buckskin Basin Park as part of the city’s America250 celebration.
The City of Las Vegas is hosting “Blast Off In The Basin,” a family-friendly party that kicks off at 7 p.m. and rolls into the night with a live DJ, food trucks and kid-focused activities. It is free to attend, but organizers are blunt about one thing: expect a crowd and get there early.
According to the City of Las Vegas, Buckskin Basin Park will serve as the main viewing area, with additional viewing available at Wayne Bunker Family Park. The city also promoted the festivities in a June 20 post on X, inviting people to bring low-back chairs, blankets and plenty of water for the holiday showdown in the sky. That post is embedded below.
When the show starts
The celebration officially opens at 7 p.m., and FOX5 reports that the coordinated fireworks and drone display is scheduled to start around 9:15 p.m. and run for roughly 12 minutes. The station also notes that additional neighborhood viewing spots include Children’s Memorial Park and the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, where organizers say guests can expect music, trivia and food trucks. Local coverage has also listed Mayor Shelley Berkley and several council members as scheduled attendees.
Where to watch and practical tips
Attendees are encouraged to pack low-back chairs, blankets and lots of water, per the City of Las Vegas event page, and plan on grabbing food from on-site vendors. Fireworks at home are another story entirely. Clark County reminds residents that only “Safe & Sane” consumer fireworks are permitted during the June 28 through July 4 sales window. Illegal aerial fireworks remain off-limits, with fines and disposal fees waiting for anyone who decides to test that boundary.
Given the noise, pet owners are urged to think ahead and keep animals indoors or otherwise sheltered for the night. For people, though, space in the main viewing area at Buckskin Basin Park can go fast, so those planning to attend can head to Eventbrite to register for event updates and vendor information.
