Rapta, an artificial intelligence company that builds manufacturing-intelligence software, is planting a new Florida regional headquarters in Orlando to serve aerospace and defense manufacturers across the eastern United States. The Portland-area startup says the move brings it closer to the Space Coast and to defense contractors that are expanding production in Florida.

In a June 19 press release, Rapta announced that the Orlando office will support aerospace, defense, space, and electronics manufacturers while deepening collaboration with industry, government, university, and workforce-development partners. The company describes its Manufacturing Intelligence Platform as software that "guides workers through assembly and inspection processes" to improve traceability and reduce defects, according to PR Newswire.

What Rapta Does

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Oregon, Rapta closed a $2.7 million seed round last year and previously set up an East Coast office in Cocoa Beach to plug into the Space Coast aerospace corridor, the company says. Rapta markets an on-premises Manufacturing Intelligence Platform that coaches operators, automates inspection, and captures audit-ready evidence for certification and quality, as detailed on Rapta's site.

Why Orlando?

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Orlando offers Rapta proximity to a growing cluster of primes, suppliers, and universities connected to aerospace, defense, and space manufacturing, which is a clear draw for companies selling production-readiness tools. Local university programs and workforce-development partnerships are also positioned to help manufacturers onboard technicians and meet certification requirements more quickly.

Rapta says participation in programs such as the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator and backing from investors, including Phase Shift Ventures, have helped the company attract early defense-sector customers, per company and investor materials. The firm also says its platform can be deployed in days within existing production environments, a pitch aimed at manufacturers that are trying to accelerate ramp-rates while preserving operational control, according to Rapta's announcement and related postings.

The Orlando office adds to Rapta's growing Florida footprint and, according to company materials, signals renewed investor and supplier attention to the state's aerospace supply chain. Rapta says the regional headquarters will let the company work more closely with customers and workforce partners across the eastern United States.
