A late Sunday shooting in the 1500 block of Pearl Street ended with one person dead and a Sandusky man sitting in the Erie County Jail, as detectives work to sort out what happened.
Sandusky police responded to the neighborhood and found a wounded person at the scene. The victim was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center and later died at the hospital. The suspect was taken into custody and is being held while investigators continue to dig into the case.
Suspect Identified And Charged
Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Tyler Cohen of Sandusky. He was arrested “without incident” and charged with murder after the Erie County prosecutor’s office reviewed the case, according to WKYC. Cohen was then transported to the Erie County Jail.
Detectives have not publicly discussed a possible motive and are still working to piece together the timeline leading up to the gunfire.

Police said the person who was shot was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where they later died. Firelands lists its main campus at 1111 Hayes Ave in Sandusky, according to Firelands Health.

The shooting unfolded in the 1500 block of Pearl Street, near Sandusky’s downtown neighborhoods. It comes on the heels of another fatal shooting reported on Buchanan Street earlier this month, as reported by News 5 Cleveland.

Sandusky Police are asking anyone with information about the Pearl Street killing to contact the department’s Detective Bureau, WKYC reports.
The Erie County Prosecutor’s Office will handle the next steps in the case as Cohen awaits arraignment. Court records were not immediately available.
