Three people were shot early Saturday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C., leaving a man and two women with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Officers were called around 1:39 a.m. to the 4900 block of G Street SE, where they found the wounded adults and launched an investigation. DC Fire and EMS took all three to nearby hospitals for treatment, and investigators say the shooting appears to be domestic in nature.
Sixth District officers arrived to find the victims outside and began processing the scene, according to WJLA. Police told the station there is no description of the suspected shooter at this time and that the preliminary investigation suggests the gunman knew one of the victims.
Police appeal for tips
Detectives are asking anyone with information, photos or video from the area to contact the Metropolitan Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (202) 727-9099 or to text tips to 50411. The department’s text-tip page notes that messages are monitored around the clock and that the line is not intended for emergencies, per the Metropolitan Police Department.
Neighborhood context
This shooting is the latest in a run of violence in Southeast this spring. In late May, gunfire near G and Fitch streets wounded two teens and an adult in an incident reported in Hoodline as one where gunfire wounded two teens and an adult. Community leaders have been urging neighbors to share surveillance video and tips to help detectives connect the dots across cases.
MPD has not released a suspect description and no arrests had been announced as of Saturday, according to WJLA. Detectives continue to canvass the block and say they will update the public as new information becomes available.
