A Memphis man is fighting for his life after showing up at a local hospital early Monday with a gunshot wound, according to police. He arrived around 5:45 a.m. in a private vehicle and was rushed into care, where he remains in critical condition. Investigators say the shooting happened on Prescott Road near Sharpe Avenue in southeast Memphis, and they are looking for a man in his 30s who was last seen dressed head to toe in black.
What police say
Hospital staff alerted officers after the wounded man was dropped off just before dawn, Action News 5 reports. The victim was brought in by a private vehicle rather than an ambulance and remains in critical condition as detectives work to piece together what happened on Prescott.
Neighborhood context
The shooting was reported near Prescott Road and Sharpe Avenue, a corridor that has weathered more than its share of gunfire in recent months. In May, gunfire on Sharpe left another man critically wounded and drew intensified police attention to the Cherokee area.

Investigation ongoing
Investigators told Action News 5 they are looking for a suspect described as roughly 30 years old and dressed in all black at the time of the shooting. No arrests have been announced, and the case remains active as officers chase down leads and potential eyewitness accounts.
