
A Memphis man is fighting for his life after a Saturday night shooting in the Cherokee neighborhood, police said. Officers were called to the 3000 block of Sharpe Avenue around 8:27 p.m., where they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

According to FOX13 Memphis, officers arrived to find the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police have not released his name. Investigators have not yet shared any information about a suspect or a possible motive, and the case remains very much open.
Neighborhood context
The Cherokee area has been on law enforcement’s radar this year, with multiple shootings reported in the neighborhood. In March, a shooting on Sharpe Avenue sparked a police pursuit and crash, as reported by Action News 5. That earlier incident highlighted how stretches of Sharpe Avenue and surrounding streets have become frequent stops for violent crime calls.

Detectives are still piecing together what happened and have not announced any arrests as of the initial reports, per FOX13 Memphis.
