A reported domestic-assault call in Lino Lakes turned into a large police response Thursday around midday, ending with one man dead inside a home and two nearby schools briefly placed on lockdown.
Officers were sent to a residence in the 7100 block of Snow Owl Lane NE after a disconnected 911 call and text messages about an assault. Multiple agencies converged on the home, removed one person from the residence unharmed, and later found an adult male inside who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Authorities said they were not searching for additional suspects and stressed there was no ongoing threat to the public.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, deputies and partner agencies arrived at about 12:30 p.m. and heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from inside the house. No other victims were located, and the sheriff's office said the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
Schools placed on soft lockdown
The Centennial School District placed Centennial Middle School and Blue Heron Elementary on a soft lockdown while officers worked in the neighborhood, FOX 9 reported. The station's aerial footage showed a heavy law-enforcement presence clustered around the Snow Owl Lane home as the situation unfolded.
Multi-agency response and perimeter
Responding agencies included the Lino Lakes Police Department, Blaine Police Department, Centennial Lakes Police Department, Fridley Police Department, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Allina EMS, according to the sheriff's office. Anoka County's SWAT team set up a perimeter while officers secured the residence and removed one individual unharmed.
Investigation ongoing
Officials have not released the man's identity or detailed the sequence of events that led to the shooting, FOX 9 reported. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said no further information will be released at this time.
