A violent weekend in Raeford left two people dead inside a home and another man recovering from a separate shooting, according to local authorities. Both incidents unfolded in Hoke County and remain under active investigation.

Welfare Check Ends in Grim Discovery

What began as a welfare check turned tragic Sunday evening on the 2000 block of Quigley Court in Raeford. Just after 7:30 p.m., deputies arrived at a residence and found an unresponsive man lying on the floor and a woman dead inside the home, according to an information release from the Hoke County Sheriff's Office.

Because both victims showed what officials described as “obvious death,” deputies did not attempt life-saving measures. Detectives have since taken over the case and are treating the home as an active crime scene.

Separate Shooting Leaves Man Wounded

Roughly 24 hours earlier, on Saturday night, deputies were called to the 4000-block range of Laurinburg Road, where they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his arm. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was described as stable, ABC11 reported.

A suspect was detained at the scene but was later released pending further investigation, according to the station.

Investigators Seeking Tips

Detectives are now asking for the public’s help as they work to piece together what happened in both cases. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jones at (910) 875-5111 or Detective Austin at (910) 875-5111, the sheriff’s office said.

“Our goal is to provide transparency while avoiding the release of premature or misleading details that could interfere with the integrity of the investigation,” the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office stated.

What Comes Next

The two incidents add to a growing list of cases the sheriff’s office has logged this month, and officials say both investigations are still very much in motion. Updates will be released as new leads develop, according to ABC11.

Anyone with video, eyewitness accounts or other tips tied to these incidents is asked to contact law enforcement.
