Renzo's Steakhouse is packing up its longtime Kennedy Boulevard dining room and heading about two miles down the road to SoHo's South Howard Avenue, with the family-run Argentine steakhouse targeting a summer opening. The South Tampa mainstay is trading one busy corridor for another as it slides into the SoHo dining strip.
The move, roughly two miles from the current spot, was pushed by rising rent costs and an aging building, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The outlet reports the new SoHo outpost is slated to open this summer and that the owners have already started locking in the location.
Business records show the company formed a new entity, Renzo's Soho, LLC, on March 10 and listed 122 S. Howard Ave. as its principal address, per Florida Division of Corporations filings. The registration names Renzo F. Menzerotolo and Jose Sr. Menzerotolo among the company's principals.
What the move means for Kennedy Boulevard
Once Renzo's relocates, its Kennedy Boulevard lease will open up, and that vacancy is already drawing local interest. St. Pete pizzeria Violet Stone jumps the bay to Kennedy Boulevard in a planned expansion that would make use of the soon-to-be-available space.
What to expect at the SoHo location
Renzo's website describes the concept as an Argentine-style steakhouse built around wood-fired asado, grilled cuts and a broad South American wine list, and lists active locations on West Kennedy Boulevard, in Carrollwood and in downtown St. Petersburg, per Renzo's. The owners have not posted a specific opening date beyond "this summer," but local reporting and filings point to a likely soft opening in the coming months, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
