Cannons, a brand-new three-story tavern, music room and rooftop patio, is set to make its official grand entrance on Detroit’s east side with an opening weekend running Friday, June 12, through next Sunday, June 14. The Morningside spot on Mack Avenue is kicking things off with a Friday ribbon-cutting and happy hour stacked with freshly shucked oysters, then sliding straight into a full weekend lineup that includes a new blues brunch series. Cannons takes over the former Lost River Tiki Bar at 15241 Mack Avenue and is aiming to serve as both an everyday neighborhood hangout and a fully programmed music venue.

According to FOX 2 Detroit, the party starts with that ribbon-cutting and oyster-focused happy hour on Friday, then rolls into weekend blues brunches soundtracked by live sets from local performers, including Greg Nagy and John "Mad Dog" Watkins. Owner Zac Pashak is pitching Cannons as a vintage, British-style pub with an emphasis on classic pours and shareable, pantry-style snacks. As reported by Eater Detroit, the spot at 15241 Mack Avenue is leaning hard into proper Guinness pours, sherry and gin flights, oysters several days a week and a compact menu of small plates like Welsh rarebit and tinned fish.

Cannons is designed as a double-duty space: a casual neighborhood bar on the ground floor and a dedicated music room upstairs. Local coverage says that the second-floor room is expected to host DJs and larger electronic acts later in the year. BridgeDetroit notes that Detroit techno figures are already on the books for upstairs sets, putting Cannons in the mix with a wave of recent Eastside openings that are reshaping the Mack Avenue corridor.
