A man died Friday evening, June 19, after jumping from the Lake Avenue overpass onto the eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena, according to police. Officers responded at approximately 5:01 p.m., and Pasadena Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Witnesses Say They Saw Him Jump
Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sam De Sylva told Pasadena Now that officers were dispatched after callers reported a person lying in the eastbound lanes, and that witnesses reported he had leapt from the overpass. De Sylva said the man was later determined to be a transient, and authorities have not yet released his identity or age.
Police Seek Witnesses and Dash-Cam Video

Authorities said tips are valuable to investigators and urged anyone who may have seen the incident or captured it on camera to come forward.
CHP Blocks Lanes While Coroner Processes Scene
The California Highway Patrol assisted Pasadena officers by blocking four lanes of eastbound I‑210 at Lake Avenue while crews and the coroner processed the scene, and officials reopened all lanes around 8:00 p.m., De Sylva told Pasadena Now. The closure caused significant evening delays through the Lake Avenue corridor until traffic was cleared later that night.
