
A 17-year-old boy who was found shot while lying in the middle of a Far North Side roadway Monday night has died, San Antonio police said. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, and the San Antonio Police Department has opened an active homicide investigation.
Officers were called around 10 p.m. Monday to Pelican Edge near Evans Road, where they discovered the teen with at least one gunshot wound and transported him to a hospital. Police have not released the victim’s name, according to WOAI.
Investigators said they have no suspect information and are still working to determine what led up to the shooting, WOAI reported. No arrests have been announced and detectives say the probe is ongoing.

The shooting is one of several recent violent incidents in the city involving teenagers. The San Antonio Express-News reported a May 7 East Side killing in which a 17-year-old was arrested. The KSAT account details a June 13 Northwest Side case in which a 17-year-old was taken into custody in connection with a fatal stabbing.
