A midday shooting in Nashville’s Bordeaux neighborhood turned into a rolling crime scene Friday, after a man shot in the face crashed his vehicle, bailed out of a moving ambulance and allegedly tried to carjack another driver, according to police. Officers finally took the wounded man into custody after a brief struggle, and a suspected gunman was later arrested.
As reported by WSMV, crews with the Nashville Fire Department first showed up thinking they were dealing with a routine crash. They soon learned the driver had been shot in the face. WSMV reports the man had crashed his vehicle nearby, was loaded into an ambulance, then jumped out as it pulled away and later attempted to carjack another motorist along Brick Church Pike.
Police Details And Arrest
Metro Nashville Police told WSMV the shooting happened around noon in the Brick Church Pike area of Bordeaux. The victim, who officers say had a gunshot wound to the face, drove away from the scene, as did the suspected shooter. Police say the alleged gunman was later tracked down and arrested on Queens Lane. After officers detained the wounded man following the scuffle on Brick Church Pike, he was transported to Skyline Hospital for treatment.
Carjackings And Investigative Tools
The case lands amid a string of bold carjackings and daytime gun violence in Nashville. Recent carjacking ambush coverage in March showed how quickly these incidents can unfold and spill across multiple locations.
The Metro Nashville Police Department has been leaning more on private camera footage and license-plate reader data in similar investigations, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department newsroom. Officials say those tools help move cases along faster, even as they fuel ongoing debates over privacy and how closely the tech is monitored.
Police say the investigation into Friday’s shooting, crash and attempted carjacking remains active. More details are expected as detectives sort through witness statements, video and other evidence.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Metro Nashville Police through the department’s non-emergency phone lines or online tip forms.
