A cheap Sunday promo at the Sky Zone trampoline park in Shrewsbury turned into a full-blown mess, as a "6-7" session drew a crush of unaccompanied kids and teens, then quickly devolved into multiple fights and storefront disruption. Witnesses and police say brawls broke out outside the park, spilled through the shopping center, and pushed nearby businesses to shut their doors early while officers flooded the area.
Police response
Shrewsbury police say officers were called around 3:42 p.m. Sunday to Sky Zone at 7375 Watson Road for reports of a disturbance. The event, advertised as a "6-7" session, drew an estimated 300 to 350 unaccompanied children and teens, and police say at least eight separate fights erupted outside the facility. As the crowd scattered through the shopping center, officers from several jurisdictions were brought in to help get things under control, according to KMOV.
Fights spread into nearby stores
The trouble did not stay at the trampoline park. Police say groups moved into nearby retailers, including an Aldi and a Walmart, and into the My Place hotel area. Employees and customers reported threats and property damage as the rolling fights and crowds moved past. Some businesses locked their doors, and managers later told reporters they were sizing up losses while officers worked to break up the groups, according to KSDK.
Weapon recovered; juveniles detained
Amid the chaos, officers say they took a butcher knife from a 12-year-old girl who told police she took an Uber from Florissant after seeing the event promoted on social media. Police detained several other juveniles and later released them to parents or guardians. The department said the area was finally cleared at about 9:30 p.m., according to KMOV.
Sky Zone's statement
Sky Zone Shrewsbury issued an apology to families who could not get in during the promotion and said staff followed the park's rules throughout the event. The company said it regretted turning anyone away and that it would cooperate with law enforcement as needed. Organizers noted they tried to manage capacity, but the turnout far outpaced what they expected, according to KSDK.
Why "6-7" matters
The phrase "6-7" has turned into shorthand among younger users and has been slapped on discounted admission days and youth-focused promos. Dictionary.com named "6-7" its 2025 Word of the Year and has detailed how the slang spread quickly on TikTok and other platforms. That trend has already jumped into marketing, with Hoodline recently pointing to a Southwest $67 fare sale that leaned into the meme. The same online buzz that can fill airplanes can also pack a low-price trampoline session in a matter of hours.
Aftermath and next steps
Police say several juveniles were detained and released to parents or guardians, and no major injuries were reported. Store managers in the shopping center plan to inventory damage and work with law enforcement on any follow-up. Local officials and businesses are expected to take a hard look at how deep discounts and special youth sessions are promoted after a weekend meant for cheap fun turned into a public safety drill.
