Neighborhood context
Southern Avenue has seen its share of violent crime this year, and police work along the corridor is starting to feel grimly familiar to some neighbors. In a separate case, an arrest in a shooting on the avenue last December underscored how detectives often depend on community tips and surveillance video to move cases forward. That prior incident also highlighted ongoing safety concerns in parts of Southeast.
