An armed street robbery in the 22800 block of Pebworth Place in Spring ended with four people in custody on Wednesday, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 4. Deputies said a group confronted a victim at gunpoint and stole his cellphone before officers moved in and detained three juveniles and one adult male.
In a Facebook update, Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 reported that five suspects allegedly robbed the victim at gunpoint and took his cellphone, and that four people were arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery. The post noted that the detained suspects include three juveniles and one adult male, but did not list their names or booking details. The constable's office has not yet released further information about the investigation or the fifth alleged participant.
How deputies tracked down the suspects
Precinct 4 has recently leaned on fast response teams along with canine and drone support to close robbery cases in the Spring area. Earlier this year, K-9s and drones helped deputies track down an aggravated robbery suspect in a nearby neighborhood. In Wednesday's incident, the office's post did not spell out what tools were used, only that deputies were able to locate four suspects after responding to the call.
Possible charges and juvenile processing
Under Texas law, aggravated robbery is a first-degree felony when a robber uses or exhibits a deadly weapon or causes serious bodily injury, with possible prison terms ranging from five to 99 years or life, according to Texas Penal Code 3. Because three of the people detained are juveniles, their cases would typically move through the juvenile system, although in some situations and after court hearings, juveniles can be certified to stand trial as adults, the Texas Juvenile Justice Department notes. Prosecutors have not yet filed or released formal court documents in this case.
Officials have not made public the names, mugshots or booking information for either the juveniles or the adult suspect. This story will be updated if additional records or filings are released.
