Brandon’s longtime burger-and-shake stop is getting a caffeine-heavy makeover, as Southern California chain Better Buzz Coffee Roasters moves into the former Steak 'n Shake on Causeway Boulevard, trading patties and whipped cream for espresso shots and acai bowls. The swap adds another national-style coffee player to Tampa Bay’s fast-growing café lineup.
According to Tampa Bay Business Journal, Better Buzz will take over the Brandon location that previously housed Steak 'n Shake. The outlet’s story reports that the move is part of the San Diego-based chain’s push east into Florida.
What Better Buzz Will Bring
Better Buzz, founded in San Diego, promotes itself as a small-batch roaster with bright, Instagram-friendly cafés and signature drinks like the “Best Drink Ever,” as described on the company’s website. Trade coverage, including QSR Magazine, notes that the brand has been expanding beyond California into states such as Arizona and Nevada as it builds a national footprint.
Where the Brandon Shop Sits
The Steak 'n Shake sat at 11306 Causeway Blvd in Brandon, according to local delivery listings. Uber Eats lists that address as the restaurant’s Brandon location.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal report does not include a firm opening date for Better Buzz at the Causeway Boulevard site, and the company’s online location finder does not yet show the Brandon store. Once the conversion wraps up, the revamped drive-thru spot is poised to offer fresh coffee options for Brandon commuters and nearby strip-center foot traffic.
